We recently received the worst kind of news, that Gram won't be with us much longer. Time is very, very precious.
Our Gram is an amazing woman. She has lived in a way that has set an example for anyone who has had the gift of knowing her. To know her is to love her.
She is Nathan's Great-Grammy, and they have such an amazing connection. They absolutely adore one another. To watch them interact is like food for the soul.
Nate also happens to have a very very big place in his heart reserved for his Papaw. I have known Papaw Jim most of my life, and I will freely admit that I have never seen anyone able to make him smile quite like Nate can. And it's priceless. Dessert with that Soul-Food, anyone?
The day was unseasonably warm for October, so we decided to head outdoors and drink in a tall glass of Indian Summer.
Something cool is in that garage! With John Deere magic they appeared, laughing and smiling in the blinding Autumn sun.
This boy is as close to our hearts as he can possibly get. He helped make the day, let's just say- Bittersweet.
For faces that need smiling, voices that need laughter and hearts that need hugged, he worked his magic.
We couldn't have asked for a better Autumn day to make special memories with our Gram. If you know her, you know why when that text came, I dropped everything to join in to see her. And if you don't know her, something tells me you understand.
Gram, thank you for those things, you know... meals made with love, the matchy Garanimals outfits from the Sears catalog, letting us stay up way too late to watch Sammy Terry, letting us flush Charlie's cigarettes, cracking a smile while yelling at us for jumping on the bed, filling the bathtub like 4 inches so we wouldn't drown, and best of all, always having an open door for all of us.
Your beauty, inside and out, is timeless. And your love is infinite and immortal.
"There is only one true happiness in this life, to Love and to be Loved."
